Twitter is microblog that allows you to “tweet” (update) your friends/prospects (aka followers) on anything that’s on your mind at the moment. It’s common for a Twitter user to send updates to their list of followers 5-10 times per day. Here are a few tips for using Twitter as a business tool.

- Use your real name, to reinforce the personal brand you are building.
- Use a unique background image.
- Upload a profile photo – people follow (and do business with) people, not cartoons or icons.
- Check your account daily to build relationships.
- Set your Twitter up with a seperate email account.
- Add your business URL.

- Search for people in your business or niche
- Log into your twitter account and as you start to follow people
- Follow people with a photo, this will increase your followbacks.
- Follow no more than 500 people per day, repeat the process daily, to avoid Twitter disabling your account.

Tweetlater.com – Welcome New Followers
- Use the same email as you did for Twitter.
- Set up an auto follow message for your new followers. Add your complete URL (i.e. http://…).
- Check the auto welcome box to send a private direct message.
- Schedule tweets to send out messages while you play or sleep, but no more than one per hour.

- Track daily new followers.
- Forecast number of followers going forward based on current growth rate.
